Peace

I read a lot of blogs. Some I pay close attention to while others I simply skim.

But a few of the blogs have mentioned something called “One Word 365.” This is a phenomenon where you spend the entire year focused upon (wait for it…) one word. Pick a word and focus on it for 365 days.

I am choosing to focus on Peace.

Peace because it’s all about calm and tranquility (which is what I need in the midst of my chaotic life).

Peace because it’s all about living in harmony with others.

Peace because it’s all about being confident and comfortable in your own skin, in your job, in your family, in your life, in your identity.

So over the course of the last couple weeks, I have focused more on peace. Primarily to figure out how to find peace while being a solo pastor for 7 congregations. Peace while waiting for the interim pastor to arrive at the end of the month so I won’t be alone. Peace in the midst of numerous funerals and countless people suffering from illness. Peace during the stressful times in our country and world as we talk about money, health care, gun control.

Peace is a very appropriate word for 2013.
